About the Speaker:
Ambassador Jack Markell was the U.S. Ambassador to the Italian Republic and the Republic of San Marino from August 2023 to January 2025. Prior to that, he served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development from February 2022 to August 2023. He served as the White House Coordinator for Operation Allies Welcome from August 2021 to December 2021. He previously served as the 73rd governor of Delaware from 2009 to 2017. Before he was elected Governor, Mr. Markell was the Delaware State Treasurer for 10 years from January 1999 to January 2009.
Ambassador Markell has also held several private sector executive leadership roles in corporate development, investor relations, strategic management and consulting. He currently serves on the boards of Rush Street Interactive and EverDriven. He previously served on the boards of Upstream USA, Jobs for America's Graduates and Delaware State University, Annie E. Casey Foundation and others. He was chair of both the National Governors Association and the Democratic Governors Association. He is a Henry Crown Fellow and a Rodel Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
He earned his undergraduate degree in economics and development studies from Brown University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He and his wife, Carla, have two adult children.
Ambassador Jim Rosapepe served as U.S. Ambassador to Romania from 1998 to 2001, where he advanced Romania’s integration into NATO and contributed to stability in the Balkans. He currently serves in the Maryland State Senate representing District 21 and is the Chair and CEO of Patuxent Capital Group, a strategic investment firm.
